Conch piercing from Pukka Berlin

The difference between outer and inner conch piercing

As with other ear jewelry, there are many variations of conch piercings, which can sometimes make it difficult to choose the right one. It all depends on what is comfortable for you to wear and what you find suitable. Of course, it is also important that the piercing harmonizes well with your other piercings. With a conch piercing, you can differentiate between inner and outer conch. This is not directly related to the appearance of the piercing itself, but rather to its placement. An inner conch piercing is inserted immediately after piercing to avoid complications. An inner conch is a plug that sits in the pinna. An outer conch, on the other hand, is a ring that goes around the side of your ear. This conch ring is also called an orbital conch and is simply a slightly larger clicker ring. There are also curved barbell piercings that you can wear like an orbital. At Pukka Berlin, we offer you a large selection of conch piercings so that you are guaranteed to find your new favorite stud and embellish your pinna.

Care of a conch piercing

Every newly pierced piercing, whether lobe, septum or labret piercing, must be carefully cared for so that it can heal properly. When piercing a conch piercing, the cartilage tissue of your pinna is pierced. The initial jewelry is then inserted. This is usually made of titanium or surgical steel and is very simple. Once the piercing has been inserted, the healing phase begins. Particularly in the first few weeks after piercing, you should try to avoid touching the conch piercing and exerting any pressure on it. You should also avoid sports or swimming for the time being. In most cases, you will be given a care spray (Prontolind or similar) at the piercing studio, which you should use regularly, ideally in the morning and evening, to promote the healing process. The healing time is different for each person. If infections or complications of any kind occur, a doctor should be consulted to minimize any discomfort.

frequently asked questions

The level of pain depends on several factors. As the ear piercing is pierced through the cartilage of the pinna, the pain may be somewhat greater than with a lobe piercing. In addition, the sensation of pain is different for everyone. However, the pain in the pierced area subsides quickly.

Yes, most of our piercings are in stock in our stores in Berlin and Munich, so you can view and try them on. If in doubt, simply contact us regarding availability. We will also be happy to advise you if you have any further questions on site.

Naturally! There are great ways to combine an ear piercing with other pieces of jewelry. For example, you could wear a discreet helix piercing or daith piercing. Or how about 1-2 discreet, sparkling stud earrings on the earlobe?

Most of our piercing models in the store have a classic piercing closure, where the plug is flat at the back and is screwed into the thread. This is particularly practical if you want to wear your piercing for a long time, as it is more comfortable and stable. The other closure is a normal butterfly ear stud closure, which can be opened more quickly and therefore allows the piercing or earring to be changed easily.

If your piercer has time and you have no problem with the pain, you can definitely consider having two piercings done in one day. The advantage would be that they can heal at the same time. On the other hand, it can of course also be very uncomfortable if two freshly pierced piercings heal at the same time - especially if the two holes are in the ear cartilage and close to each other. Ask your piercer for advice beforehand, as they are familiar with the anatomy of the ears and can tell you what options you have.
