The first step: dreaming together.
What do you want as a couple? A free wedding ceremony in the countryside, an elegant celebration in the city or barefoot on the beach? As the bride and groom, you should definitely discuss these factors to make your dream wedding possible. Pukka tip: In Mumbai, where part of our jewelry production takes place, weddings last up to seven days! With dance nights, mehndi ceremonies and lots of gold jewelry. This love of tradition also inspires our designs.
To-dos in this phase:
- Set a budget
- Roughly plan the guest list
- Define wedding style
- View & book locations
- Request service providers such as photographer, wedding planner & band
9-12 months in advance: Save the date & book service providers
Now it's getting concrete. As soon as the location is finalized, the save-the-dates can go out. Important steps:
- Send out the save-the-date cards
- Ask witnesses
- Arrange catering, music, photography
- Find a wedding dress (yes, this early!)
Fun fact from India: In traditional Hindu weddings, there is a separate date for choosing the best astrological wedding day. This attention to detail is also in every piece of our jewelry - handmade in India.
6-9 months before: Style & Jewelry
The look for the day is taking shape. Time for dress fittings, suit selection and of course - your wedding jewelry.
To-dos:
- Choose rings or have them made
- Finalize the dress
- Plan bridesmaids' outfits
- Coordinate wedding decorations
- Plan wedding speech or rituals
Did you know?
Rings need lead time: Custom-made jewelry (like at Pukka Berlin) should be ordered at least 6 months before the wedding .
3-6 months before: fine-tuning & attention to detail
Now it's time to get down to business:
- Finalize the menu
- Writing the daily schedule
- Design seating plan
- Book trial styling & make-up
- Finalize stationery (invitations, menu cards, etc.)
Tradition from Mumbai: In many Indian weddings, the bride and groom don't just get one outfit, but several. Colors, fabrics and jewelry are coordinated for each ceremony. This playful approach to tradition and style is something that also flows into our designs.
2-1 month before: The final steps
- Plan seating arrangements
- Finalize the decoration
- Pick up and admire the rings!
- Pack your emergency kit (blister plasters, deodorant, sewing kit etc.)
- Enjoy the countdown - it's almost time!
