Sustainable material for gold jewelry

Our Fine, Bridal and Lab lines use gold jewelry. We use either 14 carat gold or 18 carat gold. In the Fine line, we use 14-karat gold and natural diamonds. In our Bridal and Lab line, you have the option of choosing between 14k and 18k gold. 18k gold not only has a higher gold content, but also a stronger yellowish color of the gold jewelry. On the other hand, 18k gold scratches more quickly than 14k gold. You also have the choice between the colors white, rose and yellow for our gold jewelry. This choice of color comes about because the gold is mixed in varying percentages with silver, copper, palladium or rhodium. We use 100% certified recycled gold for all our gold alloys. So you can wear our jewelry with a clear conscience!

What is gold jewelry?

It is jewelry made of gold alloys, i.e. based on the metal gold. Compared to cheaper alloys such as silver jewelry or other metals, it is of higher quality and more durable and has been used for thousands of years in jewelry making. The sustainable gold jewelry from Pukka Berlin is manufactured exclusively in 14 or 18k versions.

Which gold jewelry is the best?

We only manufacture gold jewelry in 14 or 18k gold. These gold alloys are not only of high quality, but are also the most commonly used for jewelry. A higher gold content results in very soft, extremely fragile material. A lower gold content can be a problem in the long term and leads to porosity.

Can gold jewelry turn black?

Different to gold, a gold alloy can discolor. This happens due to the proportion of other materials (copper & silver) that get added to the alloy. In this case, cleaning with a commercially available polishing cloth or, in a further step, cleaning with baking powder is often sufficient. White gold jewelry in particular could turn black due to the higher silver content in the alloy. This oxidation is often easily removable using the methods mentioned.
