Before you get started...

To ensure that your ring is neither too tight nor too loose later on, you should be precise when determining the ring size. We would like to give you the following tips to help you do this:

  1. Not all fingers are the same: The fingers of our dominant hand are often a little thicker, which is why you should measure the ring size on the finger on which the ring will later be worn, for example the ring finger.
  2. Better in the evening than in the morning: Because our fingers only show their true "thickness" in the evening.
  3. Summer vs. winter: Cold weather causes the circumference of the finger to shrink, which is why you should only measure after a longer period of time in warm weather in winter. When buying a ring, also bear in mind that our fingers get slightly thicker in summer.
  4. Pay attention to the knuckle: If your knuckle is very different from the base of your finger, it is often advisable to order one size larger.
  5. Chunky vs. simple: For chunky rings such as the Cuban Chain Ring, we recommend choosing one size larger. Filigree rings with a central stone, such as engagement rings, on the other hand, should fit a little tighter to prevent them from constantly twisting.
  6. Measure several times: For a ring that is guaranteed to fit, you can use the chosen method several times or consult another one to be sure.

When does a ring fit perfectly?

It should neither be so tight that you notice it in everyday life, nor so loose that it constantly slips or even falls off. Just try the shake test: if the ring is still on your finger after shaking your hand vigorously, it fits.

Determine ring size with ring

With ruler or folding rule

The first method is particularly simple and is suitable if you have a ring that fits well but has no size engraved on it.

Simply place the ring on the top of the ruler or folding rule.

Now read off the number in mm and look for it in the ring size table shown.

Conversion table for ring sizes in Germany

If you are between two ring sizes, you will also find intermediate sizes such as 57 or 59 in the following table. Most jewelers also offer their rings in these sizes, so you don't have to compromise.

With the Pukka Guide

Another way to determine the inner diameter of your ring is to use the template on our guide.

Step 1: Print out the ring template

Simply download it here for free and print it at 100%. To save paper, you can also print only the first of the three pages.

Step 2: Check ratio

It is best to check again whether the guide has been printed in the correct size. To do this, simply measure the number in mm of one of the circles with a ruler.

Step 3: Find out the ring size

Now place the ring on the different circles until you have found a match. Now all you have to do is look up the inside diameter in millimeters in the conversion table (see last page of the guide). That's it!

Did you know?

While the average ring size for women is between 48 and 56, most men wear their rings in sizes 57 to 62. Of course, there can also be deviations here, which is why many jewelers also offer smaller or larger sizes.

Determine ring size without ring

With a strip of paper or ribbon

Use the next method to measure your finger circumference, which you can use to determine your ring size in the same way.

You will need: a thin strip of paper or ribbon, a felt-tip pen and a ruler or measuring tape.

  • First you need to wrap the ribbon around your finger. Make sure that it is neither too tight nor too loose and can still be slipped over the knuckle.
  • Now you can mark the points where the two ends overlap with the pen.
  • Then measure the distance between the two markings with the measuring tape (in mm).
  • Now simply compare with the international ring size chart (see below) and you have your ring size!

Another way to determine the right ring size is to print out our ring sizer. And this is how it works:

Step 1: Download the guide

Simply click here and print out the guide at 100%.

Step 2: Cut out the Ringsizer

After you have measured one of the circles on page 1 of the guide with a ruler to make sure that it has been printed in the correct size, you can now cut out the Ringsizer. Also add a slit under "Cut here".

Step 3: Place and read the Ringsizer

Now place the strip of paper around your finger (with the writing facing outwards) and pull the tip through the slit. When the sizer is directly on your finger (but not too tight!) you can easily read off the size.

Not clear?

The small line between two sizes means that an intermediate size is the perfect ring size for you.

Ring size measurement at the jeweler

Whether you have narrow fingers or wider fingers - we hope that we were able to help you measure your ring size and that you can now order your piece of jewelry without any worries. If you would prefer to have your ring size determined by experts, you are welcome to visit us in one of our stores in Berlin or Munich. You can find us at Torstraße 159, Bikini Berlin or Galeria München Marienplatz. We'll make sure that the ring really fits in the end.

Finally, we'll give you a tip when it comes to secretly determining the ring size, for example if you want to make a friend or loved one happy. This can be incredibly helpful, especially when it comes to a surprise engagement.

Go to a jewelry store with your friend/partner and say that you want to give your cousin/father a ring that has fingers similar to his. The jeweler will then determine the correct ring size and you can be sure that the ring will fit later! The same principle applies to women's rings, of course.
