Rings fascinate with their endless possibilities of shapes, materials and colors and adorn our hands in a special way. Each ring tells its own story and perfectly expresses the personality of its wearer. To make sure that the ring doesn't slip, get lost or fit too tightly later on, it's important to know your own ring size.
We'll tell you how to find out quickly and easily and what you should bear in mind when measuring. If you have a well-fitting ring at home but it doesn't have a ring size engraved on it, you can easily find out using a ruler or our free printable template. Measure ring size as a man
Are you looking to choose wedding rings or would you like to buy an everyday piece that underlines your personality and adds that certain touch to your outfits? Then the first step is to find the right ring size so that the ring fits perfectly later on.
If you have a printer at home, this is quick, easy and even fun. Simply cut out the ring sizer and place it around the desired finger or place an existing ring (without an engraved ring size) on the template and look up the number in mm in the enclosed ring size table.
If you don't have a printer at home, that's no problem either. Either place the ring that fits well on a ruler or wrap a thin strip of paper around your finger. Click here for detailed instructions .
Did you know?
While the average ring size for women is between 48 and 56, most men choose ring sizes 57 to 62.
Determine ring size without ring
Unlike necklaces, bracelets and earrings, you have to select one of the ring sizes for rings before you can add them to your shopping cart. Finding this out is annoying, but important so that your ring doesn't pinch or even fall off later.
We'll tell you two methods you can use to measure your ring size and give you a few tips to consider before and during the measurement. We also show you how jewelers determine your ring size using a ring stick and ring set and how you can secretly find out your partner's ring size. Just click here!
Determine ring size with ring
If you already have a well-fitting ring of yours or your partner's at home, you can find out your or his ring size without having to measure the circumference of your finger first. You will need either a printer or a ruler / measuring tape.
Method 1: Print out the guide, move the ring over the different circles until you have a match and look for the matching circle of the inner diameter in millimeters in the conversion table. Done!
Method 2: Place the ring on the beginning of the ruler or measuring tape and multiply the number in mm by 3.14 or look for it in the ring size table.
When does a ring actually fit well?
A ring fits well if it can be pulled off your finger with relative ease, but cannot slip off on its own. If in doubt, the shake test can help: simply shake your hand a few times (in a place where you can find it again if it falls off!) and if the ring is still in place afterwards, it fits!
Size chart rings
Before you look up your ring size in our ring size guide, you should make sure that you have measured it correctly so that you end up wearing the perfect ring on your finger.
The following tips and methods should be observed when measuring:
- The right finger: as the fingers of our left hand and right hand are different, you should always measure on the finger that the ring will later sit on.
- Pay attention to temperature: Our fingers are thinner in winter than in summer and they are thinner in the morning than in the evening. You should keep this in mind.
- Note the knuckles: If your knuckles are more pronounced, choose a ring size that is one size larger so that the ring still fits over your knuckles.
Determine the correct ring size with a ring template
On our ring template to download and print out, you will find 3 methods to correctly determine your ring size. You can find the template and the exact procedure in our article.
If you don't have a printer at home, you can simply use the following method:
- First cut a thin strip from a sheet of paper
- Wrap this around the desired finger, e.g. the ring finger (not too tight, not too loose)
- Now mark the points on both ends where the two intersect
- Measure the distance between the two markings in mm and look in the enclosed conversion table for ring sizes
- You already have your ring size!
